Pre-sales engineers are the primary technical contributors to the sales force. They are very hands-on technical, and are responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate.The pre-sales engineer must be able to articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users. Key is to identify and remove all technical issues and obstacles to ensure customer satisfaction throughout the entire sales cycle. Ability to establish and maintain strong personal relationships is very important, all the way through and after the sales cycle. The ideal candidate has the ability to quickly understand the customer’s challenges and goals, and immediately provide value to the customer through suggested improvements, answers, and assurance. The candidate is also self-motivated, with a proven track record in deep knowledge of a technology and strong presentation skills.
Desired Skills & ExperienceRequirements and responsibilities • Rapidly understand customer requirements and challenges • Remove any technical friction in sales cycle • Responsible for representing the product technically to customers • Support sales team on proposal and solutions to customers • Work with Product Management and Development to ensure product alignment with customer requirements • Ultimately responsible for ensuring technical success, and thereby customer satisfaction, during sales cycle Qualifications • Analytical mindset, with ability to break down problems and requirements • Robust and wide technical skill set, including Java, Linux, and performance tuning of those • Familiarity with the operational needs of scaling an application in production, with clustering, load balancing, etc • B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree required • At least 3 years relevant work experience • English fluent, German strongly preferred in Europe • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills • Entrepreneurial – flexible, problem-solving approach to work • Passion for technology • Flexibility to travel occasionally
