#GraphCast: Follow the Money, Untangling Complex Fraud Networks with Emil Eifrem

Welcome to this week’s #GraphCast – our series featuring what you might have missed in Neo4j media from the past fortnight.

Last time, our Managing Editor, Jessica Baumgardner, struck gold with this neat video explaining how graph theory can be used to find the number of reasonable watch orders of Marvel’s 23-movie Infinity Saga.

Check out this week's #GraphCast on the FinCEN Files

This week, while meandering through the treasure trove that is graph-powered possibility, I hit upon this jewel. Check out this interview with Neo4j’s Co-Founder and CEO Emil Eifrem, on the role of graph database technology in revealing the most extensive money-laundering scandal we’ve ever seen – the FinCEN Files.

If you’re not familiar with the FinCEN Files (after all, it did happen in 2020 along with everything else), this conversation is a great primer. My takeaway: Even when you have access to all the data you could ever want, it takes the right technology to see the bigger picture.
