Neo4j is a fast-moving software start-up with extensive international operations. Founded in Sweden (where we still maintain our EMEA HQ), the company is now based in San Mateo, California. We’re looking for Sr. Financial Analyst to fill the ‘jack-of-all-trades’ financial analyst role that start-ups require.

The Company has raised >$80M, including a recent $35M Series D, and is growing fast.
This position reports to the Controller and will work with many areas of the company including sales operations, accounting, and executive management.

ROLE
Reporting to the Controller, this is a hands-on role and we need a do-er, taking direction from the Controller, Finance Director, and COO/CFO. This role will assist with monthly and quarterly FP&A responsibilities currently maintained by the Controller and Sales-Ops Director.
The Company has grown and we need assistance with:
Planning and forecasting (annual PLAN, semi-annual board update, monthly internal rolling forecast)
Over time, this role will likely take-over forecasting and will need to admin, live and breath Adaptive Insights.
Improving our current revenue model and tracking our key metrics like: ARR, Churn, Up-sell/cross-sell/down-sell, ACV, TCV, Departmental level Op Ex, Rep productivity
Most of these metrics revolve around revenue, so you’ll be working closely with the Sales-Ops team. You’ll also need to dig into the GL and have enough accounting chops you can figure it out.
SKILLS REQUIRED
We use Adaptive Insights (AI) for our planning and forecasting – so expertise with AI a huge plus.
Requires working knowledge in relevant CRM system (SugarCRM or Sales Force)
Accounting: QuickBooks – good accounting background required
Lots of Excel
Willingness to try and learn and possibly implement new tools (e.g. Leapfin, Tableau, Zuora).
Assist with future ERP system implementation (e.g. NetSuite, Intacct, Oracle) will be part of the job
RESPONSIBILITIES
Main initial areas of focus will be monthly reporting, revenue forecasting, ARR management, and backup on Adaptive Insights (AI) budgeting and planning package.
Load monthly actuals into budget file and report on actual performance against plan.
Assist with revenue model and build out superior model working with sales leaders.
Work with sales ops team to understand customer contracts and impact on revenue, ARR, churn, renewal rates.
Assist with annual planning process and semi-annual Board update.
CHALLENGES
Challenges include multiple currencies, multiple entities, multiple time zones, and multiple cultures as we are an internationally spread company.
Both a hands-on, get-it-done attitude along with thought leadership are required as the business grows in headcount, revenue, and geographical scope.
Other ad hoc projects as needed (which there will be many) will demand creativity and flexibility
Possible examples: Due Diligence, FX, R&D credits, Board Decks, ad hoc reporting, changing policies and definitions and the Company grows.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Preferred:
University degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA a plus.
At least three year’s prior analyst experience in Venture Backed Tech company
Familiarity on SaaS industry concepts including metrics mentioned above

Understand and identify cost/benefit opportunities and relationship work efforts to recommend process improvements
Strong analytical and writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Can compose concise written descriptions of complex issues supported by detailed statistical analysis.
