‘Spring into Neo4j’ Events Announced in Washington D.C.

  • ‘Spring Data Neo4j’ Meetup to be Held at AOL Headquarters
  • Two Sessions Planned at SpringOne 2GX 2012
  • Early Release of Spring Data: Modern Data Access for Enterprise Java eBook
Neo Technology, creators of Neo4j, the world’s leading graph database, today announced it is hosting a series of Washington D.C.-area ‘Spring into Neo4j’ events this Fall and announcing early release of the O’Reilly Media Spring Data: Modern Data Access for Enterprise Java eBook. Events include a Meetup and sessions at SpringOne 2GX 2012, taking place from Oct. 15 -18, for which Neo is event gold sponsor. ‘Spring into Neo4j’ Event Dates and Details Meetup: “Spring Data Neo4j – Graph Power with Spring Ease of Use”
  • Presented by Michael Hunger, head of Spring integration at Neo Technology
  • Tuesday, Oct. 16th, at 7:00 p.m. ET at the AOL Headquarters
  • Register at: https://bit.ly/QN4qFl
Abstract: This talk introduces the different aspects of Spring Data Neo4j and shows applications in several example domains. During the session we walk through the creation of an engaging sample application that starts with the setup and annotating the domain objects. We see the usage of Neo4j Template and the powerful repository abstraction. After deploying the application to a cloud PaaS we execute some interesting query use-cases on the collected data. SpringOne 2GX 2012 Session: “Addressing the Big Data Challenge With a Graph”
  • Presented by Neo’s Emil Eifrem, CEO, and Michael Hunger, head of Spring integration
  • Thursday, October 17th, at 2:45 p.m. ET at the Washington Hilton
Abstract: This session will provide a close look at the graph model and will offer best use cases for effective, cost-efficient data storage and accessibility. Takeaways will include an understanding of the graph database model, how it compares to document and relational databases, and why it is best suited for the storage, mapping and querying of connected data. To be included is a hands-on guide to Spring Data Neo4j, which provides straightforward object persistence into the Neo4j graph database. SpringOne 2GX 2012 Session: “Grails goes Graph”
  • Presented by Stephan Armbruster, engineer at Neo Technology
  • Thursday, October 18th at 8:30 a.m. ET at the Washington Hilton
Abstract: The past few months have seen the establishment of the Grails Neo4j plugin, which is now in a phase of stabilization and is already used in production. This session will provide a demo covering the usage of Neo4j in multiple setup scenarios, such as embedding and REST. We will show how a domain model is decomposed into Neo4j’s node-space, and the potential of graph-specific capabilities like traversals and cypher queries. The session will also offer a case study covering our experiences running the Grails Neo4j combo under high load in a real production system. Relational database technologies continue to be predominant in the enterprise, but they’re no longer considered a “one size fits all” solution – learn how to increase your options.
