AWS, Google, Neo4j, Oracle. These were just some of the vendors represented in the W3C workshop on web standardization for graph data, and what transcribed is bound to boost adoption of the hottest segment in data management: Graph.
After being included in Gartner’s Hype Cycle in August 2018, Gartner also included Graph as trend No. 5 for in Top 10 Data and Analytics Technology Trends for 2019. Graphs shine in modeling a number of domains, and are the best option to leverage connected data.
The W3C organized a workshop on Web standardization for graph data this week in Berlin, with the aim of getting as much of the graph community together to discuss and converge on possible standardization efforts. The workshop was largely driven, and sponsored, by Neo4j. Other sponsors were Oracle, Ontotext, and ArangoDB.
Neo4j is the market leader in graph databases, as per the DB-Engines index. We’ve had a number of conversations with Emil Eifrem, Neo4j’s CEO, including one last week, just before the W3C workshop, in which Eifrem was adamant: Standardization is a top priority for Neo4j.
