Celebrating Neo4j’s Recognition as a Global Top 100 Most Loved Workplace

At Neo4j our mission is to help the world make sense of data. Our core values, which place relationships at the foundation and employees at the heart of our operations, have guided us in this mission. Today, we are thrilled to announce that these values have led to Neo4j being recognized as a Global Top 100 Most Loved Workplace by Newsweek.

Being named a Most Loved Workplace is a significant achievement. It is a testament to the culture we’ve built and our commitment to our employees. This is the first time Neo4j has received this recognition, and we couldn’t be prouder.

The Newsweek award was decided in collaboration with the Best Practice Institute (BPI), a leadership development and benchmark research company. The results were determined after surveying more than 2 million employees from businesses with workforces varying in size from 30 to more than 10,000. The list recognizes companies that put respect, care, and appreciation for their employees at the center of their business model and, in doing so, have earned the loyalty and respect of the people who work for them.

At Neo4j, we are pioneers of graph technology. Collaboration is inherent in our role as creators and builders of this still-evolving category. Our open-source and developer roots form the core of a community mindset where collaboration between and across every aspect of our company and our broader developer community is inherent in what we do.

Our approach mandates bottom-up input, creativity, and transparency as a complement to our top-down vision and strategy to ensure every employee is part of our journey to build and scale the company for our customers, community, and market.

“While workplace dynamics continue to evolve, the power of a positive culture remains constant,” says Nancy Cooper, Global Editor in Chief of Newsweek. “The companies featured on the 2023 Global Most Loved Workplaces® list embody this transformative spirit, proving that when companies prioritize their people, success naturally follows.”

Solving the World’s Biggest Data Challenges

Graph technology – a category we created and continue to lead – is now experiencing explosive growth. Gartner predicts that graph technologies will be used in 80% of data and analytics innovations by 2025, up from 10% in 2021, facilitating rapid decision-making across the enterprise. Every employee at Neo4j is here because the vision for our company and the category is synonymous with our belief that graph technology is essential to solving the world’s biggest data challenges.

This shared vision not only drives us but also impacts our customers directly. It’s ultimately the creativity and ingenuity of our team that enables our customers to leverage the structure of their connected data to reveal new ways of solving their most pressing business problems. With Neo4j’s full graph stack and a vibrant community of developers and data professionals, we’re proud to serve hundreds of Fortune 500 companies.

In line with this vision, we thrive in a culture that is open and inclusive. At the beginning of each month, we host All Nodes meetings where updates and issues are shared; and in the middle of each month, employees can Ask Management anything — anything — either publicly or via anonymously submitted questions. Ideas are digitally logged, reviewed, and responded to. We also field public and anonymous team member surveys for our strategy development. These approaches are part of our DNA as an open-source community culture whose vision is to make graph technology available and accessible to everyone.

Our Core Values

At the heart of Neo4j are our six company values that define our culture. They are aligned with our employees because they are identical to our CEO’s values in creating and scaling graph technology as an open-source, community-driven technology:

    1. We value relationships
    2. We are focused on user success
    3. We thrive in a culture that is open and inclusive
    4. We assume positive intent
    5. We welcome intellectually honest discussions
    6. We deliver on our commitments.

These values have remained the same since our founder Emil Eifrem started the company in 2007, and it’s why our employees come, stay, and grow. He serves as a model of our company’s values because he is the embodiment of them. Neo4j is his life’s work, and he is driven by his passion for graph technology and the community that is part of it.

One of our biggest priorities is helping employees and their families thrive. We’re committed to supporting happiness, health, and overall well-being for all employees by providing a comprehensive benefits program. Neo4j offers healthcare benefits, overall wellness packages and paid time off programs to support employees where they need it most.

We are immensely proud of this recognition and the team that made it possible. It is a testament to the culture we’ve built at Neo4j – one that values relationships, collaboration, and the success of our users. As we celebrate this recognition, we invite you to become a part of our story.
