Neo4j Named a 2025 Gartner® Peer Insights™ Customers’ Choice for Cloud Database Management Systems

Arvind Ramachandran

RVP Global Customer Success, Neo4j

We’re proud to share that Neo4j has been named a 2025 Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice in the Cloud Database Management Systems (DBMS) category. This distinction is especially meaningful because it’s based entirely on feedback from our customers. Only three vendors received this recognition in 2025. To qualify, companies must exceed market averages in customer interest, adoption, and overall experience, making this a true reflection of customer satisfaction and trust.

Every feature we ship and every improvement we make starts with listening to what our customers need. They’re the ones building groundbreaking applications, uncovering hidden patterns and relationships in their data, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with Neo4j graph technology. Our role is simply to provide the technology that enables innovation, and this designation confirms we’re succeeding in that mission.

The global trust in Neo4j graph technology reflects the real experiences of teams solving real problems. From powering intelligent assistants that boost productivity to protecting sensitive financial data, our customers are doing remarkable work.

We’re grateful to our customers for inspiring and challenging us to build the most comprehensive cloud-native graph database and analytics offering on the market. When teams evaluate cloud database solutions, they can look to the Customers’ Choice designation—along with the Magic Quadrant and Gartner’s other expert research—as concrete evidence that they’re choosing the right cloud DBMS solution for their unique use case.

Understanding the Voice of the Customer

The Gartner Peer Insights Voice of the Customer report synthesizes verified customer reviews to give technology buyers unfiltered insights from their peers. Unlike analyst-driven research, this data comes directly from practitioners who’ve implemented and lived with these solutions day-to-day. The methodology is rigorous—vendors need at least 20 eligible reviews to qualify, and reviewers must be from companies with over $50 million in revenue.

The quadrant positioning reflects two key dimensions: User Interest and Adoption (measuring review volume, willingness to recommend, and market coverage) on the x-axis, and Overall Experience (combining ratings for capabilities, support, and delivery) on the y-axis. Landing in the Customers’ Choice quadrant means exceeding market averages on both measures—a vote of confidence from the people who matter most.

What Our Customers Are Telling the Market

Our 54 validated reviews tell the story: With a 92% willingness to recommend score and an overall product rating of 4.7 out of 5, our customers aren’t just satisfied—they’re advocates. What’s particularly encouraging is the consistency across all categories: deployment experience, support quality, and sales interactions all scored well above market benchmarks.

This puts us ahead of several well-known competitors in the space, including MongoDB and Couchbase, who fell into different quadrants despite their market presence. The message is clear: when it comes to actual user experience, Neo4j delivers in ways that matter to enterprise teams.

Customer-Driven Innovation in Action

These results don’t happen by accident. They reflect our relentless focus on customer-centric product development and our commitment to continuous improvement based on real feedback. Over the past year, we’ve shipped significant enhancements across four key areas that directly address our customers’ needs.

Building Trusted Fundamentals That Scale

Our Product and Engineering teams delivered breakthrough improvements to our core database technology, focusing on customer needs around performance, scalability, and enterprise readiness. Parallel Runtime enhances performance for large analytical queries by efficiently using multiple CPU cores—delivering faster traversals that ensure optimal use of available system resources and quicker query results.

Call in Transactions enables efficient bulk operations through Cypher-native batching, improving performance for memory-intensive workloads. New releases—like Change Data Capture (CDC), our block storage format, and our Python driver with 10x faster performance via Rust extensions—are all part of our goal to empower our customers to build mission-critical graph applications.

Delivering on Our Enterprise Cloud Vision

Our Neo4j AuraDB cloud offering surpassed 25K active managed databases, with customer needs shaping every enhancement. Enterprise teams require robust security and compliance, so we delivered SSO, MFA, Customer Managed Keys, and SOC2 Type 2 compliance. We also introduced cost-saving options: Free Trial for AuraDB Professional and the new Business Critical tier, providing enterprise features at a more accessible price point.

To enable customers to scale beyond traditional limits in Aura, we support larger instance types and up to 15 secondaries, while Vector Search–optimized instances double vector capacity without compromising performance.

Simplifying the Developer Experience

Developer productivity drives everything we do, guided by our “5-5-5” experience framework and philosophy—we strive for 5 seconds to sign up, 5 minutes to demonstrate value with your data, and 5 days to realize meaningful impact. This philosophy shaped every improvement we delivered, streamlining the Neo4j developer workflow through our redesigned Aura console that consolidates administration, modeling, and visualization into a single workspace. The unified approach eliminates tool-switching friction while enabling better team collaboration through enhanced role-based access controls, while new co-pilot features empower developers to construct Cypher queries using conversational language.

We’ve prioritized API-first development workflows with targeted enhancements. Our Query API simplifies database interactions through standard HTTPS calls, while the redesigned Aura CLI provides comprehensive command-line control over AuraDB instances. The official Visual Studio Code extension brings Neo4j development directly into developers’ preferred environment, and our updated Needle StarterKit delivers industry-specific templates that jumpstart application creation.

Pioneering GraphRAG for Enterprise AI

Our GraphRAG innovations address a critical customer requirement: GenAI applications that deliver the accuracy and explainability needed for mission-critical use cases. We’ve built comprehensive tooling, including our GraphRAG Python package, LangChain-Neo4j, and the LLM Knowledge Graph Builder reference application. The fine-tuned Text2Cypher model responds to growing customer demand for natural language interfaces to knowledge graphs. Web resources, including our GraphRAG ecosystem page and GraphAcademy courses, address customer needs for better access to resources and integrations.

In a recent industry report on GraphRAG from Gartner, Bring Knowledge and Trust to Generative AI with GraphRAG (27 May 2025 – ID G00830821), Gartner analyst Darin Stewart writes, “GraphRAG enables the enterprise to combine advanced AI technologies with structured data frameworks to achieve more informed and actionable insights”.

Our expanded cloud partnerships with AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks meet the fundamental customer need for graph intelligence embedded within existing architectures rather than as separate systems. Our Microsoft collaboration brought Neo4j capabilities into the Fabric analytics platform, while our validated Databricks connector provides seamless integration for enhanced analytics and faster GenAI development. Neo4j Graph Analytics for Snowflake brings enterprise-ready graph algorithms to the Snowflake AI Data Cloud—delivering powerful graph analytics capabilities exactly where customers already work.

The thread connecting all these improvements is simple: we listen, we learn, and we act.

Real Impact, Real Results

Over 1,700 customers, including 80+ of the Fortune 100 companies, use Neo4j to solve their most complex data problems.

Klarna: AI Assistant Powers Productivity

Klarna powers its GenAI chatbot, Kiki, with a Neo4j knowledge graph, transforming how employees collaborate.

“Kiki brings together information across multiple disparate and siloed systems, improves the quality of that information, and explores it, enabling our teams to ask Kiki anything from resource needs to internal processes to how teams should work,” says Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski. “It’s having a huge impact on productivity in ways that were not possible to imagine before without graph and Neo4j.”

Intuit Safeguards the Data of 100 Million Customers

Intuit protects 100 million customers by using Neo4j to map network vulnerabilities across 500,000+ endpoints in real time.

“We build our brand on being a reliable company, and being good stewards of customer data means we need to respond quickly to security events,” says Zach Probst, Staff Software Engineer at Intuit. “Thanks to Neo4j, our team calculates the risk score of every asset—software, servers, services, websites, source code—in just four minutes. These are complex traversals involving tens of thousands of assets, and we’re able to do them extremely quickly.”

Building the Future Together

The Customers’ Choice designation is more than recognition—it validates our approach to understanding and anticipating customer needs and provides a foundation for the future.

Technology alone doesn’t earn customer trust. It’s the partnership, the responsiveness to feedback, and the shared commitment to solving real problems that matter. Every review in that Gartner report represents a team that chose to build something meaningful with Neo4j—and chose to recommend us to their peers.

That trust drives everything we do. As graph technology continues to reshape how organizations understand their connected data, we’re grateful to have customers who challenge us, inspire us, and ultimately make our technology better. Thank you to every customer who shared their experience in this year’s Voice of the Customer report. Your feedback doesn’t just validate our work—it shapes our future. Here’s to continuing the journey together.
