Classes Offered

Introduction to Neo4j

This course helps build a good knowledge of graph databases. It also teaches the core functionality of the Neo4j graph database. With a mixture of theory and hands-on practice sessions, you will quickly learn how easy it is to work with a powerful graph database using Cypher as the query language.

At the completion of this course, you can:

  • Describe what a graph database is and the graph property model.
  • Set up your development environment with Neo4j Desktop or a Neo4j Sandbox.
  • Write basic Cypher queries to retrieve nodes and relationships from the Neo4j database.
  • Write advanced Cypher queries where you control the query processing and how results are returned.
  • Write Cypher statements to create, update, and delete nodes, relationships and properties in the Neo4j database.

Graph Data Modeling With Neo4j

This course teaches how to design and implement a graph data model and associated queries. With a mixture of instruction and hands-on practice sessions, you’ll learn how to apply the labeled property graph model to solve common modeling problems. You’ll also learn how to evolve an existing graph in a controlled manner to support new or changed requirements.

Skills taught in course:

  • An understanding of the labeled property graph
  • How to apply the property graph to common modeling problems
  • Common graph structures for modeling complex, connected scenarios
  • Criteria for choosing between different modeling options
  • How to modify an existing model to accommodate new requirements

Neo4j Graph Data Science

Using the Neo4j Graph Data Science Library, data scientists are able to work with complex data in ways that are not always practical or even possible at scale with SQL queries or other database tools.  In this advanced Neo4j training, you’ll learn how data scientists are leveraging graph database technology and algorithms to drive real-time decision making and planning.

Participants will:

  • Learn about Neo4j, the Labelled Property Graph model and the Neo4j Graph Data Science Library (GDS)
  • Prepare your development environment for using the Neo4j GDS
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and understand best practices for using Neo4j GDS
  • Write code to implement these types of graph algorithms: - Community Detection - Centrality - Pathfinding - Similarity - Link Prediction - Visualize results using Neo4j Bloom

*Please be aware that the GDS class is not an introductory course and requires some familiarity with the Neo4j graph database. While the agenda includes a brief review of the Neo4j basics to provide a minimal refresher, it is recommended that you have attended the Introduction to Neo4j and Introduction to Graph Data Modeling classes prior to this course.

**We ask that you view four short instructional videos before taking this class. The videos will be sent in a confirmation email upon registering.
