Creating an instance

The process of creating a instance differs depending on the type.

You can select from the options below to display the relevant process.

To create an AuraDB Free instance in Neo4j AuraDB:

  1. Navigate to the Neo4j Aura Console in your browser.

  2. Select New Instance to open the Create an instance page.

  3. Select AuraDB Free as your Instance type.

  4. Set your Instance details:

    • Instance Name - The name to give the instance. This name can be whatever you like.

    • Region - The physical location of the instance. Set this as close to your location as possible. The closer the region to your location, the faster the response time for any network interactions with the instance.

  5. (Optional) Select a Starting dataset. Selecting a starting dataset pre-populates your instance with data from the selected dataset.

  6. Select Create Instance when you are happy with your instance details.

  7. Copy and store the Username and Generated password credentials for the instance.

  8. (Optional) Download the credentials as a .env file.

  9. Tick the I have stored these credentials safely to use later checkbox, and select Continue.

You can only create one AuraDB Free instance per account.

To create an AuraDB Professional instance in Neo4j AuraDB:

  1. Navigate to the Neo4j Aura Console in your browser.

  2. Select New Instance to open the Create an instance page.

  3. Select AuraDB Professional as your Instance type.

  4. Set your Instance size, the memory, CPU, and storage allocated to the instance. The larger the instance size, the more it costs to run. Once selected, you can see the running cost at the bottom of the page.

  5. Set your Instance details:

    • Instance Name - The name to give the instance. This name can be whatever you like.

    • Neo4j Version - The version of the Neo4j instance. By default, this is the latest major release.

    • Region - The physical location of the instance. Set this as close to your location as possible. The closer the region to your location, the faster the response time for any network interactions with the instance.

  6. Tick the I understand checkbox next to the running cost confirmation.

  7. Select Create Instance when you are happy with your instance details and size.

  8. Copy and store the Username and Generated password credentials for the instance.

  9. (Optional) Download the credentials as a .env file.

  10. Tick the I have stored these credentials safely to use later checkbox, and select Continue.

To create an AuraDB Enterprise instance in Neo4j AuraDB:

  1. Navigate to the Neo4j Aura Console in your browser.

  2. Select New Instance to open the Create an instance page.

  3. Set your Instance size, the memory, CPU, and storage allocated to the instance. The larger the instance size, the more it costs to run. Please refer to your enterprise contract for pricing.

  4. Set your Instance details:

    • Instance Name - The name to give the instance. This name can be whatever you like.

    • Neo4j Version - The version of the Neo4j instance. By default, this is the latest major release.

    • Region - The physical location of the instance. Set this as close to your location as possible. The closer the region to your location, the faster the response time for any network interactions with the instance.

  5. Tick the I understand checkbox.

  6. Select Create Instance when you are happy with your instance details and size.

  7. Copy and store the Username and Generated password credentials for the instance.

  8. (Optional) Download the credentials as a .env file.

  9. Tick the I have stored these credentials safely to use later checkbox, and select Continue.

Multi-database is not currently supported within Neo4j AuraDB.
