Today, we welcome Sudhir Hasbe as our new Chief Product Officer at Neo4j! Sudhir is a highly accomplished technology executive with a wealth of experience in the software industry. We’re thrilled to have him on board to guide the evolution of our product portfolio and further strengthen our position as the market leader in Graph Database & Analytics.

Sudhir joins us from Google Cloud, where he led Product Management for Data Analytics. With his deep expertise in data analytics and machine learning, Sudhir’s leadership will be instrumental in helping us continue to innovate and deliver the power of graphs to our customers.

He’s passionate about graph technology and its potential to revolutionize how organizations solve complex problems and unlock potential by uncovering relationships and patterns in vast data sets. As we continue to grow, Sudhir’s insights and expertise will drive our product strategy to meet the evolving needs of organizations across the world.

Recently, I had the chance to chat with Sudhir about his background, experience, and what attracted him to Neo4j. Here are some highlights from our conversation:

Sudhir, can you tell us a little bit about your personal life?

Sudhir: Sure, Emil! I live in Seattle with my wife, Swati, who has the most beautiful green eyes in the world, and our 13-year-old twin boys. Sleep is overrated when you are raising twins! I love the rain, which is why I moved to Seattle 20 years ago. I grew up in Mumbai, India. I love collecting medals, and there is no other sport better than running marathons and half marathons because everybody who finishes gets a medal! Many of my races were for the Team in Training with Leukemia Lymphoma Society, a charity group where I raise money for cancer research. I’ve done over 60 half marathons, four full marathons, a triathlon, and various other events.

What were some of the highlights from your five years at Google?

Sudhir: When I joined Google in October 2017, it was a similar size business to what Neo4j is today. We built a multi-billion dollar business, experiencing more than 20x growth. We expanded our product portfolio. Analytics is a huge space, and we wanted to ensure that we could solve problems for our customers end-to-end. Along with that, we made four acquisitions, including the $2.6 billion acquisition of Looker, and grew our customer base to tens of thousands worldwide. These are just a few highlights, and of course, my team will always be a highlight for me.

What attracted you to Neo4j?

Sudhir: I’ve been exposed to so much amazing technology, but I was drawn to Neo4j’s unique position in the market as the leader in the graph database and analytics space. Graph technology has the potential to revolutionize how we solve complex data problems. The use cases for graph technology are endless, ranging from fraud detection to recommendation systems, and I see tremendous potential for growth. Moreover, I was really impressed with the team and the culture at Neo4j. It’s a company that genuinely values its employees and fosters an environment of innovation and collaboration.

How do you see graph technology evolving, and how do you plan to contribute to that growth at Neo4j?

Sudhir: Neo4j has the best graph technology and the best opportunity to shape its future. I had already spent some time with Neo4j’s products, and it was clear that in a world that is increasingly connected, every complex data problem looked like a graph – which meant solving these problems requires a technology that behaves in this way. That was my graph epiphany! I believe the future of graph technology lies in making it more accessible and easier to use for a wide range of applications. We’ll continue to invest in our core graph database offering and expand our product portfolio to address new use cases and provide integrated solutions to our customers. I look forward to working with the team and our customers to innovate, scale, and grow

What’s one thing you want people to know about you?

Sudhir: I may be passionate about technology, but I love getting to know and working with people. That’s my superpower! I’m available 24/7. I can’t wait to dive in, learn from everyone, and bring new innovative products to life.

The Next Chapter for Neo4j: Welcoming Philip Rathle as CTO

As we welcome Sudhir, I also want to share an update on our leadership team. Our long-time SVP of Product, Philip Rathle, will be stepping into a new role as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Philip has been with Neo4j for over a decade. Under his leadership, we have grown our product portfolio from a single product to a full graph stack, shaping the entire graph database category. As our CTO, Philip will focus on market and customer engagement, working on key technology executive relationships in the ecosystem and the industry.

This is an exciting time for Neo4j, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have Sudhir and Philip leading the way in their respective roles. Their leadership will be instrumental in helping organizations leverage the structure of their connected data to reveal new ways of solving the world’s most pressing business challenges. Please join me in congratulating Sudhir on his new role as Chief Product Officer and Philip on his new role as Chief Technology Officer. We look forward to their impact on the continued success of Neo4j and our customers.
