NODES AI 2026 – The Searchable Grid: Building a GraphRAG-Powered Digital Twin for Real-Time Insights

Join Lijimol George, Boobalan Sivaprakasam, Mathumitha G S at NODES AI for this session: “The Searchable Grid: Building a GraphRAG-Powered Digital Twin for Real-Time Insights”.

Electrical networks produce vast, varied data—GIS, AMI telemetry, transformer health, DER output, and outages—yet utilities still rely on static diagrams and siloed systems. This hampers real-time diagnosis and decision-making. This session presents a practical solution: leveraging Neo4j Knowledge Graphs and GraphRAG to create a searchable, intelligent Digital Twin of the distribution grid.

Distribution assets—substations, feeders, switches, transformers, meters, DERs—are unified into a semantically rich knowledge graph capturing topology, dependencies, and operational states. On this Digital Twin, we add a GraphRAG-powered natural-language engine that retrieves relevant subgraphs and state info, allowing engineers to ask complex, domain questions in plain language and get precise, contextual answers.

The system enables real-time tracing of faults, identification of overloaded nodes, analysis of DER capacity, and simulation of switching—offering intelligence and actionable insights. This integrated graph + AI approach delivers faster outage response, better situational awareness, and more reliable planning for MV and LV networks.

Attendees will learn:
• Build a real-time, queryable Digital Twin with Neo4j
• Use GraphRAG to combine LLM reasoning and graph traversal for contextual answers
• Democratize grid intelligence with natural-language queries
• Unlock fault tracing, outage prediction, DER assessment, and grid optimization
