Neo4j Won Prestigious Data Breakthrough Award for AuraDB!

We’re thrilled that Neo4j’s AuraDB solution was named “Cross Infrastructure Analytics Solution of the Year” in the third annual Data Breakthrough Awards program! This award marks the latest of 13 awards we’ve accumulated over the past year, and is further recognition of the growing role Neo4j plays in the data infrastructure for both developers and data scientists.

Organized through Data Breakthrough, this prestigious international awards program honors outstanding data technology products and companies, attracting more than 1,850 nominations from across the globe. We couldn’t be more excited to be among the 2022 recipients.

Neo4j’s Marketing Communications Associate, Adrianna Dyczkosky, sat down with Kay Nair, Neo4j’s VP of Global Cloud and Strategic Sales, to talk about AuraDB and the award.

Adrianna Dyczkosky: Kay, can you tell me about the two versions of AuraDB that are currently available?

Kay Nair: Since the launch of Neo4j AuraDB in 2019, Neo4j has released both Enterprise and Free versions of the industry-leading cloud service. While Neo4j AuraDB Enterprise is explicitly engineered for cloud-native enterprise projects, Neo4j AuraDB Free is devoted to opening doors for graph developers to learn, test, and grow their talents – for free!

Adrianna Dyczkosky: How many enterprise customers use AuraDB, and can you name a few?

Kay Nair: Over 2,000 customers now deploy Neo4j AuraDB for everything from digital transformation and fraud detection, to knowledge graphs and more. That’s 500 percent growth year-over-year. There’s been rapid adoption by fast moving companies of all sizes. Notable customers include Levi Strauss & Co., Adeo, The Orchard, Boston Scientific, Dun & Bradstreet, NASA, The German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD), TCS, PwC, Qualicorp, Current Bank, Tourism Media, and the UK Department of Education (DfE).

Adrianna Dyczkosky: And can you tell me about how AuraDB Free is used and by whom?

Kay Nair: AuraDB Free is an easy-to-use platform with built-in learning guides and one-click deployment that is automatically optimized with upgrades and patches applied without any downtime. The free tier of AuraDB allows users one database that is limited to a maximum graph size of 50,000 nodes and 175,000 relationships, making it easy for developers to produce small projects and experiment within the software.

The AuraDB Free completely eliminates overhead, so infrastructure and payment are never a concern for developers. These users will eventually become advocates, promoters, evangelists, educators, and partners of both AuraDB and Neo4j, better serving the entire graph database industry.

Adrianna Dyczkosky: Can you give me an example of an organization or individual who is using AuraDB Free?

Kay Nair: Some of the most innovative applications of our software, like the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)’s investigation and production of the Pandora Papers, come from Neo4j’s community base, rather than enterprise customers. The goal of offering an entirely free service is to empower these users by reducing friction and accelerate discovery within the software as simply as possible.

Adrianna Dyczkosky: What is next for AuraDB? What are you looking to focus and expand on in the coming year?

Kay Nair: We’re going to build out new security features to comply with enterprise-grade security requirements in 2022. We’ll continue to expand our cloud (and marketplace) coverage as well.

Adrianna Dyczkosky: Can you share some parting words with our community about what this award means to you?

Kay Nair: It’s great validation of all the early work the entire product and engineering teams have done to build value for customers. We are energized by this award and look to build on it to create the most robust enterprise grade Graph DBaaS in the industry. We have big things planned for Aura and this is a great stepping point.

We’re so grateful to our community and the Data Breakthrough team for recognizing Neo4j as a leader in this space. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for graph technology!
